Just four days after the Public Relations Society of America New Orleans Chapter (PRSA NOLA) celebrated its 2005 Awards Dinner, Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast . Some 15 months later, PRSA members again gathered for an evening event to honor and recognize those public relations professionals who have not only stayed in New Orleans , but who have turned in award-winning work in every category from crisis communications to invitations to newsletters.
A total of 65 entries were submitted. Of those, 54 entries won an Award of Merit, Award of Excellence, Best of Category or the highest award presented – the Anvil. Entries included submissions from a number of PR/Advertising firms, independent consultants, private companies and non-profit organizations. The entries were sent to Michigan where they were judged by members of the Western Michigan PRSA chapter.
The awards event, which was held at the Audubon Golf Club on November 16, closed the evening by handing out six Anvil Awards. The Anvil Award recognizes those PR campaign entries that show a complete program incorporating research, planning, execution and evaluation.
This year’s Anvil winners were:
-
Loyola PRSSA Bateman Team 2006 for its entry titled: Get Back in the Habit
