"Stoney" Dale, Former PRSA New Orleans President 
Stonewall "Stoney" Dale, a former president of the New Orleans Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, died at his Covington home March 14. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Dale served as Louisiana public relations director for South Central Bell in the 1970s, operated his own PR firm in the 1980s, and served as a full time consultant for Freeport-McMoRan in the 1990s.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a graduate of St. Stanislaus College high school in Bay St. Louis and earned a degree in journalism from Louisiana State University, where he served as president of Sigma Delta Chi, a national journalism honor society.
Mr. Dale also served as:
President of the Red Stick Kiwanis Club in Baton Rouge, which he founded;
Secretary of the New Orleans Press Club and as "top banana" for the club’s annual Gridiron Show;
Presidentof the LSU Journalism Alumni Association;
A member of the advisory board for the School of Mass Communications at LSU
A member of the Louisiana Press Association Board of Directors.
He is survived by two Sons, Stonewall H. Dale Jr. of Pensacola, FL and Steven C. Dale of Covington; two daughters, Terry Lee Dale-Jackson of Blowing Rock, N.C. and Jodi Lynn Vollenweider of Bush, LA; and three grandchildren. |
